Animatic The Arrival

About this time last year, my class went to The Animation Workshop in Jylland and had the new students make 20 seconds animation on a two minutes animatic we made. The theme was arrival and this is what it ended up with.

I've made this for a short school project about how to talk to children. I made it in two days and it shows.

 Ohhh Kate.. How you comfort me on this awful day! i fell on bike this morning, because some jerk drove in front of me... And he didn't even stop to check if i was okay. 
And then..i broke a completely new mac... Not mine, but oh how i wish it had been mine.... I feel terrible and hate this day, so now im seeking comfort under my duvet with the dog, watching old Kate Bush videos

We started a new project at school together with production designers from The Danish Design school. A two minutes children story about a child finding something or leaning something new. Here is the first draft of my storyboard:

Movie theme: Space

I have a thing about space these days... I philosophize more about it and look at the stars more intensely than i normally do, and every where i look i see something about the universe. Maybe it is because of the 50s birthday for man in space or cause 2012 is close. Anyway i'm enjoying it and are feeding the interest with space movies!

I been watching Pandorum..A fast-moving B-movie that looks like a Marilyn Manson video from the 90s and feels like a Event Horizon/Resident Evil rip off. Nice plot, awful editing! Kinda liked the ending, but was about to stop the movie many times on the way to it.

 

Then i saw Sunshine again. I love that movie! Love the plot, the atmosphere and the production design. Especially the light in this movie is very well made. In every scene the light is designed with perfection. It set a claustrophobic and lonely mood and makes me feel like i'm being burned and blinded by the sun.

I saw Mission to Mars because i hadn't seen it before and i almost wish it stayed that way. A bad script, lousy special effects and the giant cheesy looking alien head with a spiritual twist..no thanks.

So i had to watch Moon again. This is one of my favorite space sci-fi movies -along with 2001 and alien and aliens. and maybe alien 3 and Dark Star.. Anyway Moon is SO amazing. Just watch it.

 

Dog love

I'm dreaming about getting another dog... i mean i already have one, how much harder can it be to have two? And there are so many amazing dog that need a home.. i don't have that much space -but i have plenty of love to give! IF i success in persuading Theis i really think we should adopt a shelter or street dog. Here are some of the beauties i been looking at today

Drowning drawing

This week i'm working on a series of drawing and watercolor portraits of drowning girls. They are inspired by the beautiful opening scene in The Hours.  
I'm very fascinated with the floating weightlessness and the opacity of the green lake. I'm dreaming about making a stop-motion movie underwater one day.

Werner Herzog

Theis and i decided to watch all of Werner Herzogs movies...ALL of them! So far we have seen Fata Morgana, Lessons of darkness and Wild blue yonder. Im amazed how stunning and hypnotic they all are. Love the tempo and his way of telling a story. 
Lesson of darkness is one of the most beautiful and vicious movies i have ever seen. Would love to watch it on a big screen one day..
